Sustainability at Enviro

In grounds maintenance and arboriculture our primary goal in to protect the natural world around us. Whether that is through litter picking, ensuring healthy habitat for wildlife, supporting wildflower meadows, or removing diseased branches from trees to promote growth, we carry this goal with us each day.

Traditionally, the grounds maintenance and arboriculture industry has been emission-heavy due to the petrol machinery and lack of recycling green waste. However, at Enviro, we keep a keen eye on how our business impacts our planet. This is why we take steps wherever possible to reduce our emissions in the work we do.

Firstly, we have invested in green technology. This includes battery powered strimmers, hedge cutters, and leaf blowers. Advances in technology in the past five years has meant that we can deliver the same outstanding results using battery powered machines. Problems before included the power of machine, battery life, not functioning in wet weather, and other issues that would prevent us from using machines all day. However, now this has been addressed, we aim to use battery powered tools wherever we can. Over the next year or two we will be stepping up our commitment to this with a view to transferring a large proportion of our petrol tools to electric.

Additionally, our sustainable use of green waste sets us apart from other companies. At our yard, the green waste is piled up until it decomposes, ready to be used as compost on farmer’s fields around Bristol. This is collected once a fortnight and means our work is being recycled for further use. This means that all the grass we cut, hedges we trim, weeds we remove, and branches we cut, are properly disposed of and given a new life after removal from site.

In our office we operate on a paperless basis. Our training is carried out through powerpoint and online document sharing, payslips are distributed electronically, and minutes are taken via a laptop rather than through a notepad. This small change contributes over time to big shift in our environmental impact.

Furthermore, we even have local eggs! See below our cheeky chickens who deliver eggs straight to the yard.
